Over the years lots of songs have been written about Johnny and last week I fell in love with yet another one: "Johnny got a boom-boom" by Imelda May. It got me thinking about this Johnny-fellow. Who is he?

As usual I've done some research and came up with theese facts:
Johnny's born on the country side but moves to the city since he's an aspiering muscisian. (Johnny B Goode and Frankie & Johnny). Unfortunatly he has a drinking problem and likes to party with the boys in Return (Bye, bye Johnny) which leads to complications and temptations.
Cause he's got a girl called Frankie and problems keeping faithful.
He's also got a bestest friend named Mary who know's that the explenation to his behavior is that he wants to find sertainty nd looks for it everywhere else but where it is. (Frankie & Johnny, Johnny and Mary) Deep down Johnny believes that nnobody really knows the trouble he's in, and he's too proud to ask for help. Which leads him to get a boom-boom and become a big, bad boy. (Johnny come home and Johnny got a boom-boom).
My research on what he looks like doesn't conclude anything. All I can say is that if you see him I suggest you keep away!

This Friday there's some heavy funkin' going on at Fasching (jazz club) in Stockholm.
- Why?
- Because Stonefunkers are re-uniting. : )

Them remind me of this other song, labeled as Swedish ol' school rap, by Infinite Mass.

- But what's with all the blue lights? (in both of these videos)
- Well, there were this blue light trend in the early 90's. Many videos used the blue light effect and Prince even wrote a song about it. Today researchers believe that this was a reflections of our longing for space and the universe (universal knowledge) - a form of escapism from earth/ our country or just our flat.

- And OMG do they look like some real wannabe gansters?
- Yepp, this guy even wrote a song about them. Shakespeare also reflected on the subject when he said; "Throughout our lives we each play many different roles". In popular sociology scientists has since added "... with more or less success!" to complete Shakespeares sentence. It took them 30 so years to come up with that.

A brief guide to Space Age

Space Age:
"The Space Age is a contemporary period encompassing the activities related to the Space Race, space exploration, space technology, and the cultural developments influenced by these events. The Space Age is generally considered to have begun with Sputnik (1957)." (Wikipedia)

But space age is much more than this, it's fashon, design, music and I love it.

Design:
A lovely Plymouth Tornado, an Egg, a fantastic fishtank, a cart (with a baby) and a very fashionable bike.

Fashion:
Think of Twiggy, mods, scooter dresses and asian button up shirts/jackets.

Hair:
Ok although I love the space age I have to admit I'm not a big fan of the hair. It might be that I've got tons of hair, too much, the thought of rolling it exhausts me. And I haven't got the slightest plan of ever cutting my hair short, which would be the other way to go to get a traditional 60's style. Either way, here it is:

Movies:
Stanley Kramer and Billy Wilder hit the big screen with stories about new ideas and ways of lives which especialy in Krames movies clashed with old ways of living. There's racism in "guess who's comming to dinner", conservative church upbringings vs science in "Inherit the wind" and in my favourite Kramer movie; "Judgement in Nüremberg" Spencer Tracy tries to deal with the aftermath of the 2nd world for the German people and everyone else.
Billy Wilder often portrays the modern 60's person. Often he portrayes sexually libarated people (for it's time), often they feel alone and often you get to see Shirley McLaine and Jack Lemmon team up in all their charm.

Hitchcock had already made some great movies which he continued doing with both Psycho and Vertigo. Kubrick made Spartacus as it was a time for BIG pictures including Cleopatra and Ben Hur.

I like Arne Matsson, a Swedish director who made a series of five movies know as the Hillman pictures. Hillman is a the couple Hillman who run a ditective agency solving mysteries. There's nothing of the Ingmar Bergman complex since Matsson is more of a cross between Agatha Christie and Hitchcock. I tried to find some clip from these movies but could only find this one from another movie he made during the same time, it'll have to do. Look at the use of music and how well every shoot is planned. If you look really close you might also see a bare boobie. ; )

Other memorable movies are ofcourse Sidney Lumets masterpiece 12 angry men as well as these other highly recommended pictures: Breakfast at Tiffanys, Cool hand Luke, To kill a mockingbird, Witness for the prosecution, Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf, Our man in Havanna, Cat on a hot tin roof and the early Bond movies (Dr No, From Russia with love, Thunderball and Goldfinger).

Music:
One thing I find very intresting about space age music is that it doesn't sound like space age looks. Space Age music is: Exotica, Lounge music. Jazz with lots of carribean influences.

I walk up to the bar and there's a guy all dressed in white, order and feel a need for a chit-chat.

The science of sleep

I've always heard that if you loose sleep you can't get it back by sleeping longer the next time.
Now, I don't know the science behind this but it 's lacking. If you couldn't regain your strengths, then by the time we got old we would just crack and die. And I haven't heard of any such cases.
Therefor the theory falls on it's own unbelievability.

Ode to adults gone mad

Sometimes I think about what will happened when I grow old and my parents die.
Since I don't have any siblings I will be alone.

However I have one cousin, or rather I have four. It's just that I haven't got any contact with the other three.
One is because I'm not allowed to (he's considered to be my uncle's "mistake"). The other two because my parents and their parents argued over the inheritance after my grandfather died.
All of the above is because of "adult" peoples behavior and attitudes. I haven't participated in any of the events that led up to this, but I sacrifice my relations because of them...

Actually it makes me so sad that I can't afford to think about it... otherwise I'd be completely outraged and wouldn't bare another second of parents and grandparents... And then I'd truly be all alone.

p.s. on facebook I located one of my cousins, I messaged him - trying to make the best of it - act adult and all that. So far there's no answer.

Yesterday during class I solved the problem with messy earphone chords and you don't have to buy any expensive gadget.

step 1. Stick the plug under the clip of your regular pencil.
step 2. Twist it 'round the pen until the end of the earphones.
step 3. Stick those suckers under the same clip.

I felt like a genius.
The class was about legal rights to music, art and photographs.

A couple of posts ago I did promise to write more about sex, since then I haven't had time to wrap my head around it. I'll have to get back to the subject.

To honour the return of ”fråga Olle” I’ve decided to dedicate a few posts to sex. This is the first one.

George Michael sang “Sex is natural, sex is fun”, but sex can also be very complicated. The best way to get around some obstacles is, of course, education. The neat thing is that education is exploration.

Rule of the day:
Never do anything sexually that you don’t want to do. It will only make you disconnect and feel cheap.

Homework:
Make a list, consisting of 3 things you like about sex. It could be that sense, a touch or as practical as having sex while doing a backflip. Think back on good sex you’ve had and try and remember what made those moments great.

Inspiration of the day:
Role-playing: Shift the common roles of men and women by her pretending to be the man, touching him as though he was her, and the other way around. It gives great prospective– apart from being sexy-sexy.

Mr Christ, mr Iscariot and greed

I watched "Passion of the Christ".
One really has to know ones bible storys to get it, other ways it's just a very detailed movie about the torture of Jesus (of the Christ family).

Mel Gibson made a few antisemetic comments a few years ago. Then he had to apologize for them. The jews where upset and Mel hasn't worked since.
My explenation is one of these - either that there is a jewish conspiricy. Or, people finaly realized that Mel is pretty overrated.

And speaking of Christianity I want it noted that my favorite apostle is Judas. I've got two reasons:
- He's into kissing. He must also be very confortable with his own sexuality to go kissing on men. People who are secure in their sexuality are sexy in general.
- He's also the one who really made Jesus famous. Had Judas not betrayed Jesus who would've remembered either today? You could in fact say that Judas was the Simon Cowell of his time.

The movie also got me thinking about sins. Deadly kinds of sins.
Greed must be the worse of them all. It's also the most widly spread. Which is very notable in times of economic diffuculty.
I wish Judas could come back from the dead and make out with them.

Crowded rooms

The loudness of hip clubs and bars always surprices me.
There you are with the in-crowd, the only problem is that one hand can't hear what the other one's trying to say. The music continues to pump and there's people with empty stares. You come to the conclusion that the only thing to do is to dance, but it's too crowded, there's no enough space. And then you leave.

I've come to the only conclusion one can draw... the in-crowd has absolutely nothing interesting to say.

Fetishes!

A couple of days ago a friend remarked that my infactuation with Hercule Poirot in fact is a fetish. This, after I gloriously mentioned that I found the complete series of BBC Radio Dramas of Agatha Christies novels.
I never thought of it before, but I do understand that to others the joy my discovery brought me might seem a bit off.

I haven't always loved Hercule Poirot. In fact I thought he was quite obnockious at first. I even preferd Miss Marple (the old hag). But soon enough Hercule won my heart, although:

he's a pompus fart
he enjoyes talking about himself in third person
wherever he goes you can rest assure - someone's going to get murdered.

Besides loving Hercule I love pinup's too. My friend saw a link - why do you enjoy these strange things, what's the common ground?

Now I've spent 2 days thinking about it and reached the marvelous conclusion that both pinup girls and Hercule represent a prettier picture in harsch times.
Hercule was most active during the depression and then later during the world war (II). He is described in aristocratic surroundings and the state of the world seems far away.
Pinups came during the war, as eye-candy for soldiers.
Each represented a welcomed escape for their readers and watchers.

I imagine that's what I adore about them too, as comfort in confusing times.

My tip is not to read Agatha Christies books.
Try to get a hold of the BBC dramas and curl up and listen to them before you go to sleep. Or simply watch any of the movies, or the TV-series.

Staring into that abyss of a bright future...

... Speaking of mothers (see my last post), this is a new mother as well as a new baby.

As I walked home from the meeting above I thought about babies and how I'm not a huge fan when it comes to toddlers. This is something few women talk about. I guess cause you're supposed to automaticly love babies as if it's part of our nurturing nature.
In that case I'm sorry to say I'm just not natural.
But don't get me wrong, I do like kids. Actually I prefer the company of almost any 4 year old to most adults. 4 year olds are fun! They have grat visions, thoughts and questions about the world.

But I don't know what to do with kids of minor sizes. There doesn't seem to be much.
Wait for them to poop, pee, yell for food.
Make a stupid face and talk with a funny voice.
Ironicly my lack for love of all those things make me feel like a complete fool.

(none of the participants in this post were hurt during writing or meeting. And of course I'm happy for the love of both the baby and the mother in the picture.)

At the pub you usually find a group of guys who's there for beer and soccer on the telly. A couple of months ago I questioned why there's no other sports fan clicks in the bar?

I must confess that I've watched tennis in bars and that's ok with people, but if and when I scream and shout about Federers beautiful forehand people look at me funny.

A couple of months ago I decided to experement with the soccer watchers monopoly of TV's in bars. My plan was to try it out on figure skating - visit a bar with a TV and ask to watch figure skating. Just as people watch soccer.

Last week the european championships finally came. I decided to try to watch the mens final in a bar.
I knew that it would be inpossible to watch it in a real sportsbar like O'learys, they have scheduals on what they show. Luckely we remembered that at one of our regular places they had a TV, so we went there.
There were no other sports on for the night, just some documentary. So we got to watch the final. Not without complaints though - one of the guys in the bar obviously got so provoked by the sparkeling ice skaters that he very loudly had to point that out. I think he thought it reinforced his manhood on some level. The other guys joined in. Everyone apart from one who quietly watched some of it. He was drunk but I swear there were joy in his eyes.

When we left the very sweet waitress were stuck in the bar having to defend changing the channel to figure skating. She told them; "I actually like figure skating!" and we loudly stated that we loved it too, as we thanked for a nice evening and went our way...

Conclusion: I strongly recommend you to grab a friend for the next sporting event you like. Head for the bar and end the soccer monopoly, it ads more diversity, and, if figure skaking - glitter and sparkle to the world!

Gravity

Our country is not slippery when wet, it's slippery when cold.
Today I tried my best to hold on, not to slide off the planet.

When I was a kid and realized there was space on the other side of the clouds I asked my mother why we didn't just go there. Why were we stuck on earth?
The way I'm telling it, it seems I wanted to go there but I didn't. I had learned that we couldn't survive there.
My mother said that gravity keep us here and gravity was some kind of power, so I wondered what if gravity just stoped. She said that then we would pop out and fly into space... but that wouldn't happened, cause there would always be gravity holding us back and here.
I was still afraid.

Later I learned about Newton.
I like the guy. Especially on a filosophical level.

According to Newton there is mass, and mass contains gravity. The bigger the mass to more it attracts other mass. If there wasnt' marcury, earth, mars and a whole bunh of other planets, venus (the closest planet to the sun) would probably slipp into the sun. But us other planets are used as the oposite force of the sun and keeps it on status quo.
The further away one mass is from the other the less is the influence of it's gravity.

Indications of Newtons principal being true on a smaller and more earthy level:
Everyone leaves for places with more sun when they can hence they are drawn to the sun.

Indications of Newtons principal being false on a smaller and more earthy level:
If we were drawn to mass, then we would be attracted and drawn towards heavy and "fat" people since they contain more mass. But we are not. In fact many people are repulsed by it.

On the other hand that might just be us humans being... uhh... us humans. In the animal kindom being heavy is a sign of someone who doesn't have problems finding food . And such a partner would in fact be a great catch.

I was desperate for new music. Tired of listening to same old - same old.
I found last.fm, apparently 3 years after everyone else and just as people are going mad about Spotify.
Well, well, since I'm looking for new stuff to listening to last.fm suits me more. And I've finally found a way to ease my mind on japanese pop, of which I don't understand a single word.

Combined with the 80's it makes me quite happy.
Of course I feel like sharing.

Spicy meatballs and dancing

I've discovered that barbeque-oil is great for frying meatballs. Adds some extra spice.

I'd also like to present one of my favourite clips from the youtube jungle - it's about this guy who attends a wedding after a cold and especially long russian winter, which he mostly spent at home, listening to music - watching mtv, dancing and dancing, one vodka after the other.

Norrlanders & 2008

It's a myth that Norrlanders are quiet people, in fact they both talk and scream. Everyone except Isa and Jenny, but Isa is shy besides liking pearls and disco-lights. Jenny is from america and doesn't speak any swedish.

Other major differences is that:

- People actually go to the mall to watch the people from Idol perform
- They just care about the most basic rules of driving
- It's warmer than in Stockholm
- People don't hug when they meet friends and family

As this year's about to come to an end I thought I'd wrap up the best parts of 2008, on a bigger level.

Other than that Christmas has been fine. Dinner and stuff with my parents and then on the evening I met up with some friends and got completly wasted, as promised and in shame. The next morning I woke up and found bits and pieces of a glass on the floor in my kitchen and the contence of my bag everywhere. I can't remember how I got home.

The day after I watched actors studio with John Cusack.
John ventuerd into the subject of Jung and the shadow-self. Very interesting indeed.
His point was that we humans try all kinds of tricks to hide our most inner self, but as an actor you have to work against that and learn how to feed off your fear from exposing your feelings too much. That's how you get good. And if you're bad it's only becasue of your natural instinct to protect yourself.

I feel this has an important meaning to me,
but the specifics are as of yet un-clear.

Blood and other kinds of distruction!

In all honesty... Yes I have long nails. Yes it's a mess and hurts like hell when they break.

Usually I hold myself back, because of the common view that it's such a girly and whiney thing to do. It's not! And this is why:

When you've had long nails for an extended period of time the nerves that lie hidden behind the nail (which is one of the reasons why you we have nails in the first place) grow further and further. the opposite is when people bite or cut their nails so much that in the end they've got no nails left at all. It takes practise and eventualy the never withdraw. We all know the pain of cutting our nails too short. why then is it such a fuzz when women break their nails? It hurts just as much, no even more because your nails get ripped and we bleed. If that didn't hurt like hell why then would denailing be a well-known metod of torture?

I USA skördar orkaner massor med människoliv och lämnar tusentals utan hem...
I Mellanöstern så råkar de ibland ut för s.k. "mud slides", när marken plötsligt börjar glida och drar med sig allt i sin väg.
Sydamerika har haft otaliga översvämningar detta år och 100 tals människor har fått sätta livet till..

Men vi ska inte tro att vi sitter skyddade från dessa fruktansvärda naturkrafter bara för att vi bor häruppe i Norden.

Tisdagen den 16 december slog katastrofen till med full kraft i Skåne. Med epicentrum utanför Bo Olsson i Tomelilla skakade en kraftig jordbävning med magnituden 4.7 på Richterskalan hela Skåne. Tusentals skåningar väcktes ur den nattsömn de så väl behöver. Många var hungriga efter att inte ha ätit på hela natten.

Skåningen är en mycket känslig individ, särskilt nu inför julen. Många skåningar kommer lida oerhört om de inte får luad ål, gröt och kalkon med sviskon till jul. Läkare har redan sett naveldjupet minska hos vissa skåningar i särskilt utsatta områden.

I've started reading the amazing code book once again and yesterday I came up with my own secret code. Use translator engines online for the secrets you want to share.

When Meeting New People...

What's the first thing you ask, when meeting new people?

Although completly useless, I want to know their name - only to forget it 30 minutes later:
- I'm sorry but I've got altzheimers light, what was your name again?

I'm not the slightest interested in peoples occupation/work. It doesn't say anything about a person. Just look at the people you're working with. Are you just like them?

My first question usually is

(if I'm at a private party)
- So, who do you know here?

(if there's someone I don't know)
- Who's up for some breakfast!?
[That was me attempting to joke]

- So what book are you reading at the moment?

Let me illustrate with a story from real life

Me: So, what do you do? No! Let me re-phrase, I'm not the slightest interested in what you do. What book are you reading?
He: Nothing, I don't read books.
Me: Oh... [silence]
Me: So where do you work?

Needless to say we didn't have many common grounds. But due to the book question we found out early on. And I'm greatful. Otherwise I might still be there listening to some endless chant about his work.

Peoples reading habits and what they read tells a whole lot about what kind of person you're dealing with.

Just think about when you visit peoples homes and look at their books, or lack thereof. What subjects, culture and people are the books about?

There's also always some history behind why a person keeps a book. Perhaps it's a lawbook since the person went to law-school. Or a book about Feng Shui which was a present to the owner from his/her aunt.

If you never ask, how will you ever learn if people have aunts or not?

I'm not the most reliable sender of christmas Cards. But this year is different and I'm an inspired sendern.
Why?
Yesterday I realized that you actually can make postcards from regular cleaning cloths.
Like this:

Pencils for drawing on fabric
A couple of cloths
A few ideas on what to draw/write
A steady hand and a set mind

Decorate the front and then write the address and message on the back of the cloth.
Staple the stamp and they're good to go.

Deadly Sins

I've always thought that one of the more deadlier sins was to take badly composed photos of your friends.

Like this one:
There's clearly way to much going on in the photo. And even though the guy's probably thinking "here I am in my best 'I'm really serrious' pose", the photagrapher makes nothing of it. The picture is cluttred with people and goings-on.

Compare the above to this one:
A real classic photo of Malcolm X. Note that the 'I'm really serrious' pose' is the same. But this photo captures everything interesting and doesn't distract the viewer with any other stuff.

Friday night:

I went to the store and bought chips, I thought I'd just go home and watch a movie.
There where lots of people in the store, slightly drunk and on their way party.
I on the other hand where going home all by my lonesome self. With some potatoes.

As I paid the clerk asked me if I wanted a bag for my things.
- Yes I might as well... otherwise everyone will know that I'm only going home with a bag of chips tonight.
- Oh and we wouldn't want that, said the clerk.

Isn't it strange how it would be more normal to go home really drunk, than with a bag of chips. And if you go home with a bag of chips you're somthing of a looser. Or that's what you think that people might think, if they knew... Anyway, I spent a lovely evening with a bag of chips and a german movie.

Note: I just wanted to say that all the recent comments from readers make me really happy. If you where here. I'd let you all in on my bag of chips.

I've been reading a feminist book the last couple of weeks. It came out about 10 years ago and feels a bit of out of date. Very harsh.

Don't get me wrong. I am a very proud feminist. But that doesn't mean that you still can't be femenine.
It's the values, that reguardless of if men and women are different or not, one thing isn't better than the other.

Sometimes I think that the descrimination against women is bigger than racism. Because it's been such a backbone of our culture for such a long time. Long before we even knew there where these black, yellow or purple people we could abuse.

Today I thought about my chances for equal pay according to:
If I were a woman (?) compared to if I where a arabian man called Mohammed Idih?
My guess is that the chance for Mohammed to earn as much as your regular bloke would be about 70-80%, while for a woman somewhere around 30-40%.

But this is only my guess, and I might be dead-wrong.
After all I'm just a woman.

When I grow up I want to be a rock star.

It'll give me lots of guys - good looking guys with big muscles and great manhoods. I'll pick them myself from those hundreds of adoring fans. And then I'll screw them, use them and leave 'em.

And all my girlfriends will get jelous and want to be just like me.

I also want the guys to carry me around, feeding me grapes and champagne. Lots and lots!

And I want everyone to want me, to yell: "Birgitta, I love you, marry me, have my children!", and then they'll throw me their underwear, while I'm rocking on stage.

We might say that "I don't do what I do to impress anyone", but I'm a firm believer that everything starts there. With trying to impress.

If the result of what impresses people gives you satisfaction in other ways, that's merely a plus.

That's why birds mating rituals sums it all up so nicely.
The bird doesn't have a very abstract plan when he does what he does, he just wants to survive as best he can.
He's not that different from us. It's just that we have more means of methods.

However this bird is really creative about strutting his stuff.

We have a very tasty Swedish drink called "Must" and it really is a must for christmas and easter.

The strange thing about this drink however is that it's only sold in stores during this time, and under the names "JulMust" (Christmas Must) and "PåskMust" (Easter Must).

Another thin is that Must completly deminish Coca Cola's sales. To such and extent that Coca Cola decided to buy the biggest Must-brand, threating to withdraw the Must. All hell broke loose and Coca Cola had to surrender.

Conclusion: Don't ever mess with a Swede regarding our Must!

Drugs are really cool!

It's just as hard to kick the habit of smoking as it is to quit heroine.
Still, you never hear somebody tell a heroine-addict to just lay off it.

I've never touched a drug besides cigarettes, alcohol and that one time at 13 when I wrapped as chewing gum around a fag and smoked it (which landed me a one-minute high).
Other than that I've never even craved it, in the back of my mind I've known that I'd probably like it too much.

At the same time all the contact I've ever had with drugs have been bad:

I dated a guy who suffered server psychological damages from drug-use (among other things). He was completely messed up and someday he couldn’t leave his home. Sometimes I was scared to be around him.
I dated another guy who did drugs. I remember how he called me - being really sexually offensive and I went "ehh... what?" later he told me that it was a due to him taking coke. I really didn't know how to react. Should I just dump him straight of just cause he did drugs?
I've been with friends while they've been smoking marijuana and seen them get bad kicks when I didn't know what to do.
I also dated another guy who told me that he was a fairly well adjusted former-addict. He told me the heart-gripping story about how he gave up the shit when he arrived to the place that he shared with a couple of friends and found his childhood friend dead from OD-ing.
One of my classmates got killed. He had been an addict for many years and the reason was money he owed for drugs.
My friends brother is an addict and he steels from his own family and is completely untrustworthy. I've seen the disappointment and hurt he's cost my friend.

No, I do not think drugs are cool.
