The figure skating file:

At the pub you usually find a group of guys who's there for beer and soccer on the telly. A couple of months ago I questioned why there's no other sports fan clicks in the bar?

I must confess that I've watched tennis in bars and that's ok with people, but if and when I scream and shout about Federers beautiful forehand people look at me funny.

A couple of months ago I decided to experement with the soccer watchers monopoly of TV's in bars. My plan was to try it out on figure skating - visit a bar with a TV and ask to watch figure skating. Just as people watch soccer.

Last week the european championships finally came. I decided to try to watch the mens final in a bar.
I knew that it would be inpossible to watch it in a real sportsbar like O'learys, they have scheduals on what they show. Luckely we remembered that at one of our regular places they had a TV, so we went there.
There were no other sports on for the night, just some documentary. So we got to watch the final. Not without complaints though - one of the guys in the bar obviously got so provoked by the sparkeling ice skaters that he very loudly had to point that out. I think he thought it reinforced his manhood on some level. The other guys joined in. Everyone apart from one who quietly watched some of it. He was drunk but I swear there were joy in his eyes.

When we left the very sweet waitress were stuck in the bar having to defend changing the channel to figure skating. She told them; "I actually like figure skating!" and we loudly stated that we loved it too, as we thanked for a nice evening and went our way...

Conclusion: I strongly recommend you to grab a friend for the next sporting event you like. Head for the bar and end the soccer monopoly, it ads more diversity, and, if figure skaking - glitter and sparkle to the world!

Safina and other cozy-factors in early November

One of the worlds greatest fighters is playing Venus Williams i Doha today - I'd say that qualifys her for the title Player of the day:

I'd also like to mention, as I'm also a big fan of her brother Marat, that although he's great Dinara by far passed him this year.
Inerestingly enough she used to have the same temprament problem hindering her to play the great tennis she has in her. As he but by some magic blow of the wind, she just overcame it. I really hope she'll be able to win her first Grand Slam next year.
First and formost I wish her victory in Doha.

Stockholm was cold today.
These to items keep me warm:

Lovely tennis tidbits (Andy Roddick)

I hated Roddick until I saw this clip from a press-conference in australian open 2007. The guy obvilously isn't such a bad guy after all.

Followed by a couple of his best imitations:

Words from MySpace - Fashion Icons

At first I was really surpriced to find Björn Borg in GX's top 15 most stylish men, but then when I thought about it - being somekind of Wes Andersson fan I realise that Björn is just as big a fashion icon as he was a tennis-player. (just look att all of Wes's films.)

Yesteray I saw a clip from one of his early Wimbledon tournaments and although he lost, girls came screaming down the courtside to meet/touch/get close to the swede after the game, nevermind who won and in much the same way as young girls reacted to Beatles when they first came. It had never been heard of in the gentlemens sport before.

No, I don't see the charm in Björn as a "dishy" guy, (his eyes are too close together and in general he's too stiff), but I do see his style.

Bellow you can see how Björn must have influenced both the great Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal in more ways than just how they play tennis.

Tomorrow I intend to continue following fashion in Australian Open.

Words from MySpace - Giants get-together

Today - right now a classic tennis final is being played between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

At the same time Oliver is in Båstad, prepairing to report from the upcoming Swedish tennis-week. He's watching the wimbledon final the lounge-bar and next to him is the former No1 and 7 time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander.
In walks Glenn Strömberg, another sportlegend (not in Tennis - he was a great soccer/football-player).
Glenn glares at the telly and says to Mats: On that surface you'd beat either of them.
Whereupon Mats replies: I Love you Glenn.

<-- Mats Wilander wins French Open 82

<-- Glenn Strömberg takes a break 85

QX Diaries - Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal spelar imponerande och fokuserad tennis.
20 vunna matcher i rad.

2005-04-25

Viktiga sportevenemang 2005:

Giro d’Italia 7-22 Maj

Luxury cococure and I fucking enjoy it!

QX diaries - Pimpin

"You'll be safe for days If you shave yer legs with Rene's razorblades"
