Just det...

You give me fever

The first time my father allowed me to drink alcohol was when I got a cold. In a rough voice he said; "I'm gonna make you something that'll make help you!"
(According to the instructions you should take this brew as soon as you feel a cold coming on, in the middle of a cold it's not gonna do you any good.)

1. Make tea
2. Pour 3 cl of whiskey into the tea (preferably not Irish)
3. Squeeze half a lemon into it
4. Ad sugar cause a hand-full of sugar makes the medicine go down.

Since I didn't drink this a couple of days ago I'm now dreadfully cold.

Otherwise I'm a wait-it-out girl who practise the never-use-Ipren or Alvedon.
Why would you want to limit the body's own defence against the cold? Trust me it'll only prolong your suffering.

I have one more principle:
Never drink while having a cold. Alcohol per definition is a poison and when you have alcohol you body wants to fight it, with the result that you'll get even worse. Although while drunk you might not feel it as much. The trick therefor is to remember this rule before having your first beer...
And that's my final advice to you today.

Jennifer Hudson, (Holiday) & Barack

The news that Barack Obama is supporting Jennifer Hudson reaches me with hessitation and leaves many questions:
  • Is McCain not supporting Jennifer?
  • Is Barack just trying to win votes by showing support?
  • Was he just answering the question about he's thoughts about the dreadful thing that happened to her and her family?
I sniff propaganda either way... But I still really want Barack to win.

A piece of Holiday that will make you chiver:

Finally I got it! (... Miss Piggy tips)

Smart cooks realize that the easiest cookbook to use is the Yellow Pages and the handiest appliance in the kitchen is the telephone.

Plants are like lamps. You plug them in and they turn right on. When they stop working, just unplug them, throw them away and plug in another.

or valueble beauty tips like:
  • Never use yellow lipstick.
  • Never color your teeth.
  • Never powder your tongue.
  • Never put flowers in your nose.
  • Never braid your eyelashes.
  • Never put anything blue on your cheeks.
  • Never use anything that stinks, stings or stains.

Mustard Marilyn

Today I'm gonna make mustard-pasta and I feel good.

Yesterday I went on a job-interveiw. Had a presentation at school - Celebrated Ninas birthday. Things where hectic (but fun).
Hence I spent the today in bed.

I like when the subway sparkles in the bluelight. It looks good on it.
I'm also going to a photo-session in the middle of november but before that I'm planning to visit my grandparents tomorrow, with Marilyn

Tiny crumbs and big holes

- I miss you
- I'm only a tiny crumb

I really do wish I could feel what it's like to be as great, as a person who is missed must feel. Instead I took a walk and I thought about workmen who makes holes for a living. Some days crumbs get sad and perhaps hole-making builders do to. Some days.

"Do you know how many holes there is in the world... if only we'd ever bother digging them."

Förresten... man
är ingen riktig tjej om man inte köper "Tracys Hämnd" och ser alla avsnitten på en gång... bara för att man inte kan låta bli.

Whiskey and women

Folke got invited for Whiskey by his new neighbours.

That's a very manly thing to do.
I've yet to be invited for Whiskey by any female friend and if I asked my neighbour she'd think I was a drunk.
But men seem to do it all the time, as a sign of acceptance.

We of course have other signs - like shopping...
It's just that I prefer Whiskey

God loves pancakes!

Today I had an aquard conversation with my Godson (I'll call him God for short in this following transcript).

God: Hi
Me: Hi
Me: How are you?
God: Fine.
[Silence]
Me: What are you doing?
God: Microwaving a soup.
Me: Ok.
[Silence]
Me: What else are you doing?
God: Watching TV.
[Silence]
Me (runing out of questions to ask): So... when are you coming over to visit? It was such a long time ago...
God: I don't know you have to ask my mother.

Conclusion: I'm taking God to see "Patrik 1.5" next Saturday.

I also heard, while talking to Gods mother, that he wanted pancakes.
Pancakes seems to be the flavour of the day since I previously during the day got this recepie for sugar-pancakes.

1. Make a bunch of pancakes.
2. Leave them in the fridge for one day.
3. Cut the pancakes into slices
4. Fry them with sugar (maybe brown)
5. Congrats, job well done!

Goodnight!

Men portaying women on film

Here's a small odyssey in men portraying women on film.

Here's an early example from 1917:

Other people like it hot from 1959:

And then there's this landmark from 1982:

Let it snow...

All of a sudden I miss snow

The kind that makes you crawl up under a blankett in the comfort of what you call home.

Much like it is right now,
but without the snow.

Women, Blacks and Sherlock Holmes

Robert Downey Jr is playing a black dude in "Tropic Thunder".
Of course you hear upset voices about the injustice in this. Who is he coming here playing a black guy and making fun of characteristics of blackness?! It's just yet another way for white people to keep us down!

I take the complete opposite point of view because of the following.
Why then is it ok for blacks to portray whites, which has been done numerous times. I'm not buying Eddie Murphy's various characters (black and white and women) being created to keep the subjects of those jokes down, it just for fun.
Another important point, I do not complain about men playing women on the wide screen, which actually is the same thing. The first time I recall that happening is by Fatty Arbuckle way back in the silent movies, since than it's been done more times than I can count while women playing men hasn't happened quite as often. When women finally play men it usually doesn't happened in the name of fun. Why is that?
If one wants to argue about the injustice between races being confirmed by movies I suggest one looks at it from the way that the portray is being done. In the early Fatty Arbuckle movies women wasn't the sharpest of brains and men usually portrayed them to get away from something (a chore or a crock)... which one could argue was a way of keeping us down.
But Roberts character in "Tropic Thunder" bares no resemblance to that what so ever, in fact he is quite the opposite which proves to me that; when you portray another group of people it's another way of saying "I accept you and your differences". And I do believe that if you can not be laughed at, you're not worth taking that serious neither.

****************

Oh and while on the subject...
Robert Downey Jr AND Jude Law in one and the same Sherlock Holmes movie!
Kaahshwing!!!

Yes I've found yet another reason to be happy to be alive.

One or more thoughts on marijuana...

I'm reading Drew Barrymores autobiography and in it she's talking about her years of addiction. That girl smoked allot of pot.
Anyway, she raises an interesting thought about, marijuana per se and says: Addictive or not, I had problems and marijuana helped me escape them, which in itself became an addiction.

Being since I've never tried a illegal drug in my entire life (nor had the urge too) I've been puzzled as to what opinion to take. I am against it but I don't want to be like one of them who looks down on drugs just because someone says they're bad. But either way Drews point is interesting and probably very accurate.

Only, then I ventured on in my hazy mind and thought about what the natural shape of a human might be? If you take away problems and material stuff what's left?
Who needs a cloud of marijuana to inhale when one could just think about that question for a while...?

I don't know who and what we are, but I know that the Navaho Indians believe that everything in nature is striding towards beauty, which in their opinion is the natural shape of things.
On that note... I do believe drugs and all escapism keeps all of us from being who we really are, in whatever shape that might be...

Here's someone who did alot of drugs singing about a girl from a country known for heps of substance-use:
