Norrlanders & 2008

It's a myth that Norrlanders are quiet people, in fact they both talk and scream. Everyone except Isa and Jenny, but Isa is shy besides liking pearls and disco-lights. Jenny is from america and doesn't speak any swedish.

Other major differences is that:

- People actually go to the mall to watch the people from Idol perform
- They just care about the most basic rules of driving
- It's warmer than in Stockholm
- People don't hug when they meet friends and family

As this year's about to come to an end I thought I'd wrap up the best parts of 2008, on a bigger level.

On a personal level 2008 was a good year for me. Containing lots of personal trials and tribulations, as well as clarity and changes for the better. Resigning, getting my ass back to school, and - although everyone speaks of the economical crisis, I'm full of optimism.

And on that note and from the bottom of my heart I wish everyone a great 2009

"I toss and turn on nails..."

That's a line from a Kent song.
That's also how I felt about tonights family dinner...

Other than that Christmas has been fine. Dinner and stuff with my parents and then on the evening I met up with some friends and got completly wasted, as promised and in shame. The next morning I woke up and found bits and pieces of a glass on the floor in my kitchen and the contence of my bag everywhere. I can't remember how I got home.

The day after I watched actors studio with John Cusack.
John ventuerd into the subject of Jung and the shadow-self. Very interesting indeed.
His point was that we humans try all kinds of tricks to hide our most inner self, but as an actor you have to work against that and learn how to feed off your fear from exposing your feelings too much. That's how you get good. And if you're bad it's only becasue of your natural instinct to protect yourself.

I feel this has an important meaning to me,
but the specifics are as of yet un-clear.
In a haze I'm leaving Stockholm

and
let the red-lights guide me:

The battle of orminge resulted in...

Blood and other kinds of distruction!

In all honesty... Yes I have long nails. Yes it's a mess and hurts like hell when they break.

Usually I hold myself back, because of the common view that it's such a girly and whiney thing to do. It's not! And this is why:

When you've had long nails for an extended period of time the nerves that lie hidden behind the nail (which is one of the reasons why you we have nails in the first place) grow further and further. the opposite is when people bite or cut their nails so much that in the end they've got no nails left at all. It takes practise and eventualy the never withdraw. We all know the pain of cutting our nails too short. why then is it such a fuzz when women break their nails? It hurts just as much, no even more because your nails get ripped and we bleed. If that didn't hurt like hell why then would denailing be a well-known metod of torture?

Jordbävning i Skåne!

...Skåne drabas av jordbävning, och se vilka roliga mail man fick! :)

___________________________________________________

Jordbävning i Skåne!

_____________________________________________________

JORDBÄVNING I SKÅNE - DIN HJÄLP BEHÖVS!

extra grädde i ris á la Maltan
extra fet ful-fiskad ål
specialimporterade äpplen till äpplekagan
filtar till soffan, för eftermiddagsluren

Öppna ditt hjärta, och plånboken, och börja skänk NU!

DU KAN RÄDDA EN SKÅNING TILL JUL!

Is Obama messiah?

Today i found this add in the newspaper, it's about a concert to celebrate Obama and change.

Isn't it the wierdest thing? The guy hasn't even begun his time in office...

Questions: Why do we in Sweden arrange a concert for Obama when the thought of having one for any of our own politicians is just plain bizarre?

Warning: Beware of cults of personality!

A new way to code your secret messages

I've started reading the amazing code book once again and yesterday I came up with my own secret code. Use translator engines online for the secrets you want to share.

Illustration with this key; Swedish to Frensh to English and back to Swedish again. That ought to do it.

Secret in Swedish: Fransmännen är rädda för att deras språk ska dö ut, men det är ingen ko på isen.

encoded to Frensh: Les Français ont peur que leur langue va mourir, mais il n'y a pas de vache sur la glace.

encoded to English: The French are afraid that their language will die, but there was no cow on ice.

encoded back to Swedish: Den franska är rädda för att deras språk kommer att dö, men det fanns ingen ko på isen.

Conclusion: I am not going to get the Nobelprice for this one either!

When Meeting New People...

What's the first thing you ask, when meeting new people?

Although completly useless, I want to know their name - only to forget it 30 minutes later:
- I'm sorry but I've got altzheimers light, what was your name again?

I'm not the slightest interested in peoples occupation/work. It doesn't say anything about a person. Just look at the people you're working with. Are you just like them?

My first question usually is

(if I'm at a private party)
- So, who do you know here?

(if there's someone I don't know)
- Who's up for some breakfast!?
[That was me attempting to joke]

- So what book are you reading at the moment?

Let me illustrate with a story from real life

Me: So, what do you do? No! Let me re-phrase, I'm not the slightest interested in what you do. What book are you reading?
He: Nothing, I don't read books.
Me: Oh... [silence]
Me: So where do you work?

Needless to say we didn't have many common grounds. But due to the book question we found out early on. And I'm greatful. Otherwise I might still be there listening to some endless chant about his work.

Peoples reading habits and what they read tells a whole lot about what kind of person you're dealing with.

Just think about when you visit peoples homes and look at their books, or lack thereof. What subjects, culture and people are the books about?

There's also always some history behind why a person keeps a book. Perhaps it's a lawbook since the person went to law-school. Or a book about Feng Shui which was a present to the owner from his/her aunt.

If you never ask, how will you ever learn if people have aunts or not?

Ideas for your Christmas Cards

I'm not the most reliable sender of christmas Cards. But this year is different and I'm an inspired sendern.
Why?
Yesterday I realized that you actually can make postcards from regular cleaning cloths.
Like this:
  • Pencils for drawing on fabric
  • A couple of cloths
  • A few ideas on what to draw/write
  • A steady hand and a set mind
Decorate the front and then write the address and message on the back of the cloth.
Staple the stamp and they're good to go.

With this Christmas Card your friends and loved
ones will think of you everytime they wash up!

I also put up my christmas tree, which (as you
can see) matches
my Pink Panther just perfectly

Splendour In The Grass

I started colleting poems when I was 11. Instead of attending gym-class, and I thought it was time well spent.
Today I found another one for my collection.
What though the radiance
which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,

Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass,
of glory in the flower,
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;

Vespa-life

Before I die I also want:
  • To become a grandmother
  • Have a cool Vespa
  • Have a dog
  • Plant a tree
Things I've already done on my to-do-list:
  • Skydived
  • Wrote a book
  • Stood up for someone who couldn't stand up for themselves
  • Performed on stage

Before I die...

I thought I'd collect my thoughts on things I want to do befor I die.

  • I want to build a tree-house
  • I want to taste stuffed Turkey

To be continued...

What is Friendship?

Friendship is a term used to denote co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more people. In this sense, the term connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, and affection and respect along with a degree of rendering service to friends in times of need or crisis.

Friends will welcome each other's company and exhibit loyalty towards each other, often to the point of altruism. Their tastes will usually be similar and may converge, and they will share enjoyable activities. They will also engage in mutually helping behavior, such as exchange of advice and the sharing of hardship. A friend is someone who may often demonstrate reciprocating and reflective behaviors. Yet for many, friendship is nothing more than the trust that someone or something will not harm them.

Value that is found in friendships is often the result of a friend demonstrating the following on a consistent basis:

  • the tendency to desire what is best for the other,
  • sympathy and empathy,
  • honesty, perhaps in situations where it may be difficult for others to speak the truth, especially in terms of pointing out the perceived faults of one's counterpart
  • mutual understanding.

Go Gay!

New evidence has been found proving heterosexuality to be a choice and NOT something we inherit.

This means that all the assholes and all the stupid tramps you choose to run after are by own choice!

The good news is that at
this place you can re-decide and go gay instead.
And while on the subject of change, at
this other place you can change your star sign and on this third page you can change your age to your right one.

Good luck with yours and the entire worlds development.

Deadly Sins

I've always thought that one of the more deadlier sins was to take badly composed photos of your friends.

Like this one:
There's clearly way to much going on in the photo. And even though the guy's probably thinking "here I am in my best 'I'm really serrious' pose", the photagrapher makes nothing of it. The picture is cluttred with people and goings-on.

Compare the above to this one:
A real classic photo of Malcolm X. Note that the 'I'm really serrious' pose' is the same. But this photo captures everything interesting and doesn't distract the viewer with any other stuff.

How to go about dividing the world!

Like Moses, when he divided the sea I'd like to share my best tool for dividing people of the world. It says allot more than most other common tools (sex, age, ethnicity etc.)

There are Coca-Cola people.
There are Pepsi people.

One is not better than the other, it's just a matter of taste.

Good luck with dividing the world

Potatoes

Friday night:

I went to the store and bought chips, I thought I'd just go home and watch a movie.
There where lots of people in the store, slightly drunk and on their way party.
I on the other hand where going home all by my lonesome self. With some potatoes.

As I paid the clerk asked me if I wanted a bag for my things.
- Yes I might as well... otherwise everyone will know that I'm only going home with a bag of chips tonight.
- Oh and we wouldn't want that, said the clerk.

Isn't it strange how it would be more normal to go home really drunk, than with a bag of chips. And if you go home with a bag of chips you're somthing of a looser. Or that's what you think that people might think, if they knew... Anyway, I spent a lovely evening with a bag of chips and a german movie.

Note: I just wanted to say that all the recent comments from readers make me really happy. If you where here. I'd let you all in on my bag of chips.

Sitting Ducks!

Two of my dearest friends are about to have babies. But right now they're like baloons and they walk like ducks.

Makes one think of that saying:

If it walks like a duck,
and talks like a duck,
it probably is a duck!

Here's a couple of other words of wisdom:

I'm Just A Giga... Girl!

I've been reading a feminist book the last couple of weeks. It came out about 10 years ago and feels a bit of out of date. Very harsh.

Don't get me wrong. I am a very proud feminist. But that doesn't mean that you still can't be femenine.
It's the values, that reguardless of if men and women are different or not, one thing isn't better than the other.

Sometimes I think that the descrimination against women is bigger than racism. Because it's been such a backbone of our culture for such a long time. Long before we even knew there where these black, yellow or purple people we could abuse.

[experiment]
Today I thought about my chances for equal pay according to:
If I were a woman (?) compared to if I where a arabian man called Mohammed Idih?
My guess is that the chance for Mohammed to earn as much as your regular bloke would be about 70-80%, while for a woman somewhere around 30-40%.

But this is only my guess, and I might be dead-wrong.
After all I'm just a woman.

R.O.C.K!

When I grow up I want to be a rock star.

It'll give me lots of guys - good looking guys with big muscles and great manhoods. I'll pick them myself from those hundreds of adoring fans. And then I'll screw them, use them and leave 'em.
And all my girlfriends will get jelous and want to be just like me.

I also want the guys to carry me around, feeding me grapes and champagne. Lots and lots!

And I want everyone to want me, to yell: "Birgitta, I love you, marry me, have my children!", and then they'll throw me their underwear, while I'm rocking on stage.

Perhaps that'll make me really feel loved.

The adventures of Hilda

Hilda is a different kind of Pin-up, painted by Duane Bryers.

I love most pin-up girls, but Hilda stands out and holds a very special place in my heart.
She's voluptuous - a vibrant red-head who's always up to something. In short she's a true role-model and perhaps the answer to the question of what happened to Pippi Longstockings when she finally grew up? She got renamed to Hilda Longstockings!

Lesson 1: Swedish - English - Being really sheep

I buy pink sheet.

This is hillarious if your 9 years old (when my mother had her first english lesson with me).

Some swedish words to explain the "joke":
I [Ai] = Ouch
Bajs [Bays] = Poop

Pinka [Pinka] = Pee
Skita [Skii(/a)ta] = (to) Shit

Translation:
Ouch poop, pee shit.

... and speaking of sheep jokes, this is the best commercial in years:

For Johan

Usually he's quite grumpy about all the stupidity in the world.

Today he couldn't stop smiling, even though he'd been up all night thinking about this great idea for our project-work in school.
He shined like a sun, enjoyed his coffee and talked about the old greeks.

Therefor Johan, this is your new self-image. Keep it with you at all times.

Let's Barack 'em!

Obama says that he's going to close Guantanamo Bay.

- The united states of america is not a country which practises torture.

Thank you.

I wonder what it's like for George W Bush to know that he's going down in history as one of the most violent, dumbest and meanest presidents ever.

Yesterday I thanked my lucky star that he wasn't president during the Cuba-crisis. He'd gone: "Let's nuke 'em!" and I or you wouldn't be here.

Note: In Swedish Barack is a house which contains many people. We usually use barack as a substitute for our ordinary buildings. They're practical, everyone fits and are able to satisfy their basic needs.

Bird-watching

I guess everyone at one point or another did something really strange in order to attract a mate.
  • Being funny

  • Having a cool car

  • Big boobs

  • Being intelligent
We might say that "I don't do what I do to impress anyone", but I'm a firm believer that everything starts there. With trying to impress.
If the result of what impresses people gives you satisfaction in other ways, that's merely a plus.

That's why birds mating rituals sums it all up so nicely.
The bird doesn't have a very abstract plan when he does what he does, he just wants to survive as best he can.
He's not that different from us. It's just that we have more means of methods.

However this bird is really creative about strutting his stuff.

(Now, doesn't he remind you of Usher, Michael or Justin?)

Must is a must!

We have a very tasty Swedish drink called "Must" and it really is a must for christmas and easter.

The strange thing about this drink however is that it's only sold in stores during this time, and under the names "JulMust" (Christmas Must) and "PåskMust" (Easter Must).

Another thin is that Must completly deminish Coca Cola's sales. To such and extent that Coca Cola decided to buy the biggest Must-brand, threating to withdraw the Must. All hell broke loose and Coca Cola had to surrender.

Conclusion: Don't ever mess with a Swede regarding our Must!

Drugs are really cool!

It's just as hard to kick the habit of smoking as it is to quit heroine.
Still, you never hear somebody tell a heroine-addict to just lay off it.

I've never touched a drug besides cigarettes, alcohol and that one time at 13 when I wrapped as chewing gum around a fag and smoked it (which landed me a one-minute high).
Other than that I've never even craved it, in the back of my mind I've known that I'd probably like it too much.

At the same time all the contact I've ever had with drugs have been bad:
  • I dated a guy who suffered server psychological damages from drug-use (among other things). He was completely messed up and someday he couldn’t leave his home. Sometimes I was scared to be around him.
  • I dated another guy who did drugs. I remember how he called me - being really sexually offensive and I went "ehh... what?" later he told me that it was a due to him taking coke. I really didn't know how to react. Should I just dump him straight of just cause he did drugs?
  • I've been with friends while they've been smoking marijuana and seen them get bad kicks when I didn't know what to do.
  • I also dated another guy who told me that he was a fairly well adjusted former-addict. He told me the heart-gripping story about how he gave up the shit when he arrived to the place that he shared with a couple of friends and found his childhood friend dead from OD-ing.
  • One of my classmates got killed. He had been an addict for many years and the reason was money he owed for drugs.
  • My friends brother is an addict and he steels from his own family and is completely untrustworthy. I've seen the disappointment and hurt he's cost my friend.
No, I do not think drugs are cool.

Dear USA - Kipling and butterflies

Dear USA,

A note from me to you as you are about to change.
Remember that if nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies.
Or in
the words of Rudyard Kipling:

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you

But make allowance for their doubting too,

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Love Birgitta

Safina and other cozy-factors in early November

One of the worlds greatest fighters is playing Venus Williams i Doha today - I'd say that qualifys her for the title Player of the day:

I'd also like to mention, as I'm also a big fan of her brother Marat, that although he's great Dinara by far passed him this year.
Inerestingly enough she used to have the same temprament problem hindering her to play the great tennis she has in her. As he but by some magic blow of the wind, she just overcame it. I really hope she'll be able to win her first Grand Slam next year.
First and formost I wish her victory in Doha.

Stockholm was cold today.
These to items keep me warm:

A pair of gloves bought at indiska for 79,90
Cozy-factor:

A movie called "Brisby & the secret of Nimh". It's about a couple of mice who wants to move their house to the lay of the stone.
